Leonard Day swivel gun .40 - need help to make a correct ramrod

Hello,

Does anyone have a photo with correct ramrod. I'm helping my nephew who has a co-worker who lost the ramrod many years ago.

Really you could just make up a ramrod on it with brass tips. On my swivel breech the rod is tapered, being .349 on the top and .265 on the bottom. It is for a .50 caliber gun, but I would guess that it might have the same thimbles.

I was able to make one with a hickory rod with brass end after finding photos.

Threaded rod extends up into rod 3". I had to expand dents out of 2 of the ferrules as the gun had been dropped or banged around without a rod in place. Person is satisfied with it.

I was able to turn both the hickory ends to correct diameter about .356" on lathe and then I mad a die to run the rest of rod thru to match diameters with a little sanding to match and came out ok. I had a piece of 3/8" brass around. I did this for free as a challenge for my nephews friend. He bought the gun from Leonard Day in 1976.
