WANTED Lightweight shotgun

Prefer SxS under 7 pounds. Less than 6 pounds, even better. I’d consider any gauge or vintage as long as the stock is not shortened. Supposedly the old Pedersoli version was 5 pounds and change.

Wow! 5 pounds is pretty light. Don't forget a lighter gun may be easier to carry, but recoil will be greater.

Would look at a single shot too, just not a long barreled fowler. A small gauge, lightweight single shot shotgun would be okay.

Keep an eye on the Classifieds here. Good deals on shotguns come up all the time. I picked up my Pedersoli percussion 20 SxS for a good price from a member here just by paying attention. Plum barrels, no less.

Look for an affordable, older DGW branded Pedersoli made 12. No frills gun that barely 5 pounds 8 oz. Recoil on range and field is very tolerable and more a push than a kick with moderate loads. SO light i immediately discarded the idea of putting a European style sling on it. Weighed less than my Gallyon 12 and twice as tough.

I have an original SxS that probably dates to the mid 19th century, it's a very light and nimble 12 ga gun, a sporting gun as feltwad said to me. I'll weight it tomorrow. It's has totally good barrels and beautiful engraving. I'm not sure you're looking for something like that, but I'll let you know on the weight.
