Whew!
What a battle! :cursing:
Spent almost two hours fighting the little %#$@! tonight...first of all, the brass needed wet-sanding and polishing, all the internals were
very rough castings with pi$$-poor machine work (except where the PO tried to polish it up a bit). I picked up where he left off, ended up smoothing and polishing the hammer and trigger/sear assemblies, cutting a slightly wider half-cock notch (was an accident waiting to happen) :shocked2: and generally cut all the sharp edges on the internals. After slathering
mucho Lubriplate on the moving parts and reassembling, it was somewhat better, but still not a very hard hammer fall. I hope it doesn't have misfire problems...
I didn't have a nipple wrench small enough; will have to find one and order it. Plus, all the screw heads were butched up some (cheap, soft garbage hardware), so I will be scouring the web for a new screw kit.
It's a rather cheap Italian copy, with no markings whatsoever :hmm: (believe me you, I searched, magnifier and light in hand!)and obviously no factory tuning or polishing (other than what the PO did).
One thing I can tell you for sure..it's not a Uberti!
Anyway, it's back together and functional. I don't think I'm anywhere near finished with it, but I want to shoot and evaluate it before I attempt any further "engineering"...see how it handles and functions.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
