Had two both broke quickly.Does anyone have any experience with this kind of loading press? Would it work for occasional shooting?
I have one and I use it mainly for my 1858. I am happy with it. I bought mine at Dixie Gun Works.Does anyone have any experience with this kind of loading press? Would it work for occasional shooting?
I’d be using it on an 1858. With .457 balls.I have one and I use it mainly for my 1858. I am happy with it. I bought mine at Dixie Gun Works.
You can easily make one much stronger than the production models. This one is constructed of spare scrap steel and a valve spring.Does anyone have any experience with this kind of loading press? Would it work for occasional shooting?
I really wish I had the talent to do that. You can easily make one much stronger than the production models. This one is constructed of spare scrap steel and a valve spring.
Yeah, the loading lever is broke, and a replacement doesn’t exist due to the age of the gun.Yes I do, and it sucks. Just use the lever on your gun, or if that is not an option, spend the money to get a decent one. It will work for occasional shooting, but offers no advantage over the on gun rammer, which is well, on the gun, and much more convenient.
I see they raised the price $40 in a year and still haven't shown my review.
That’s a nice one looks like.
That’s very nice. Beyond my capabilities, but that’s cool.I made this one some years ago and It works very well for me. It may be a bit elaborate for some, but it does do the job very well. The original design started off with a long lever arm affair but that did not work out well. I saw a YouTube video of a guy that used a latch mechanism, so I stole his idea and came up with this design. Pictures are self-explanatory.
