I’d recommend a .530 with .18 patch.
Works great in my Colonial .54.
Buy a Callahan mold and recast your lead.

I already use round balls and patches, and cast my own. I asked about sizing dies for conicals

These work very well!

I use adjustable Swing-Lock dies and Lee Custom sizing dies mounted in a press. They all work.

Looks like they dont make them for 54 cal

Joe Wood, maker of coning tools, does not recommend coning the muzzle of any barrel that shoots conicals. This is due to gas cutting at the base of the bullet.

His tools sure do work for round balls. I have three of them.
