Heard back from some of the folks I reached out too today. General consensus matches that of the folks on here. She be cheaply built and not worth sinking any money into. They gave me some pointers on how to make the most of the situation which I appreciate. I'll finish this thing out to get my kit building confidence back up and start making preparations to obtain a quality specimen in the near future.

My pic may not be the greatest there. The hammer and frizzen are are not centered on each other. Enough so as to be an issue as the center of the hammer is on the inner edge of the frizzen. I've been searching for an upgrade lock but have yet to find or hear back from any feelers about ones available for the Pedersoli built rifles.
I have a factory built pedersoli that has a lock that lines up like that. It operates and sparks fine. I have always just slid the flint over in it just a bit. I cannot remember what model it is off the top of my head. I will get a picture of it when I get off the road this week.

That's what Brad from Cabin Creek recommended I do as the simplest solution. He went further and stated that that particular design flaw has been present on cheap locks pretty much since the things were invented. Who knew.
His honest and straightforward reply complete with history lesson have earned them some of my hard earned cash when I add the next and much better quality flintlock rifle to my smoke pole collection.

I had a flint smasher from a new Pedersoli Jaeger. I sent it to Brad, and 290.00 dollars later it was fixed.
I bought the rifle NIB, but second hand. I did contact Pedersoli, but they were rude, so I thought the best route was through Brad. If I was the original buyer, I would have sent it back. That was my second bad lock from Pedersoli, so they are on my ban list now.
I did get a Kibler this year, and it has been a dream to own.

That's the exact same. I was off work today so worked on mine for several hours. Got a few more metal pieces to get filed and sanded and a tad more sanding on the stock before starting the finishing of said parts.
For the life of me I can't figure out why they went through the expense of bluing and assembling all the parts on the barrel when it was left in such a state it all had to be stripped down and redone.

If you end up using the lock the way it is, make sure you shift the flint over enough. I found if I center the flint in the jaws of the cock it will hit the barrel when the cock falls. I hope your build goes well. Be sure to post some pictures of it when you are finished 👍

I have a Chambers late ketland lock where the hammer lines up to the frizzen the same way. I was told that his typical of the late ketland and to just move the flint over a bit in the jaws
