Today I researched the weights of an original Enfield type III three band rifled musket and reproductions that can be found on the market. An original was 9.5 #. A Euroarms, which is really more like a type IV, is 9 #, rounded off. An Armsport is 10.5 #. A Pedersoli is 8.6#, rounded off. Someone said the difference is because the density of European walnut is greater than that of American walnut. I think the differences are because of the amount of wood in the stock.

All would be European walnut, so no difference there. Amount of wood would certainly be part of it, but I believe the Armi Sport guns have thicker barrels as well.
