I have a Navy arms 1803 Harpers Ferry rifle. I replaced the Navy Arms lock with a Davis Harpers Ferry lock and thought I was ready to shoot it. Barrel is marked .58 Cal and everyone suggested I get the .562 mold that is sold everywhere . I bought it, made round ball and they are too tight with a patch. I measured the bore and it comes out to .562 . I have three types of mine balls the smallest being .577 and they won't fit either. I can with a thick patch almost use my .530 round balls for my .54 but they are almost not tight enough. I think .540 or .545 might be about perfect ball size. For a barrel marked .58 caliber it's not. It's more like .56 caliber. Where could I find or have made a .540 or .545 mold made?

Track of the wolf has a Lee 6 banger mould in .550. Jeff Tanner at Ballmoulds.com can make you a single cavity mould in different sizes. You'll need to trim the sprue on those

Marty Arms makes molds in .01" increments.

They are also sold by BPI.

I found them while contemplating a .52 cal rifle build...
