Loose Hammer

My hammer on my flinter is loose, how would i fix it. It seems loose on half and full cock. Also the trigger is alittle loose just after i fire or on half cock, and while i'm at it, i'm starting to notice alittle bit of rust on my barrel. How do i fix these problems.

What brand of pistol? How old? Does the lock have a bridle? Is the hammer loose on the square shank of the tumbler? It's hard to answer your question without knowing more about the gun. I would think the trigger being "loose" on half cock is just a little clearance between the trigger and sear arm and not much to worry about. Some put a light spring on the trigger to take up the slack.
