Loose wedge pin

Hey guys quick question. What is the best way to tighten a loose wedge pin? My pin is practally falling out with very little pressure. Is there a good fix or should I just get a new pin.

The wedge is adjusted by lightly tapping the under barrel lug reducing the clearance.

If it is a wedge - The easiest way us to put a minor bend in the wedge and install curve down. It is easier to replace a wedge than a mangled lug.

Is it a pin? If so, I add a little superglue to the pin hole on each side of the stock, allow to set then run a drill bit through using my fingers.

Got it! It is a wedge and a slight bend worked. I tried to bend the barrel lug but couldn't (trying not to hit it too hard) wedge much easier. Thanks!

I'm with Black Hand on this. Many will argue the point but it is allot easier and cheaper to replace a wedge than the lug if you get carried away and bend too much, it can crack. Just makes more since to me.

Take a half or three quarter socket extension and lay it across the center of the under barrel lug and tap on it with hammer. Using it makes sure you keep the point of impact at the same spot. Tap check, tap check till you get it where you want it. Go slow. DANNY

You can also roughen up or add friction to the interface with something like a light coating of rubber cement or rosin. Let the glue cure before you reinsert the pieces together though.

My wedges are case hardened. Meaning they won't bend easily. But OTOH, they fit tightly.

If I'm not mistaken, (assuming they are steel) if you heat them cherry red and let them air cool slowly that will soften them up. Bend them to shape. then heat again, quenching in oil, and then temper in the oven @ 375 degrees for an hour.

I wonder if bending the wedge pin will cause it to not line up with the other side.

Me, I'd tap the lug smartly.
