I have a hard time getting Bore Butter in the lube grooves. It seemed to melt very quickly. Is it necessary to fill the groves or just get the bullet wet ?

Bore Butter is about worthless for what you are trying to do, nowhere stiff enough even it it isn't melting. Make up some beeswax based lube using one of the many recipes found here. Fill the grooves.

Bore butter is always melting right down the barrel when firing multiple shoats, at the range for instance. It makes a nice gunky mess in the breach. Leave the stuff alone.
