When screwed down the rear sight blade kicks to the left and the pinned front kicks right. Also, the left side of the sight blade is lower than the right side. At present, I have placed a thin plastic shim under and to the left ( 'L' shaped)just in front of the sight blade. My back up plan is to shim with either copper wire or lead. Is there a better permanent solution? To date, I have avoided pushing out the roll pin.

In follow up - anyone with similar issue, do a single word search "adjustable". It turns out that movement in the GPR adjustable rear sight is a fairly common complaint.

IMO....That's because that sight sucks! Best replace it. At the ranges you will be shooting with a ML most don't need adjustables. If you are set on adjustables then go to Track of the Wolf or elsewhere and buy a better system.

jdkerstetter - I actually appreciate the 'blunt' reply. I have one more modification to try and if that doesn't work the gpr adjustable sight will be history.

I have to agree, every GPR I've ever owned got the adjustable rear sight replaced, I just can't stand them.

I use brass shims on the rear sights to "steady" them on guns that I buy cheap to clean up and resell. But on the guns that I plan on keeping I put on fixed sights!
The mounting plate uses the origional holes and screws but also moves the dovetailed rear sight a little closer to the muzzle, good for older eyes. :idunno:

Yes indeed. I have a Lyman GPR and the rear sight rocks under thumb pressure. Bought it here several years ago and have yet to decide it's fate.

The best thing to do with the adjustable GPR sight is to see how far you can throw it.
Use the primitive fixed sight or cut the dovetails for aftermarket fixed sights.
I used LR sights on mine with a silver blade front and a longbased rear.
Its like a different rifle without the wandering zero.
