I heard a rumor recently that Lyman decided not to have Pedersoli continue to make their muzzleloaders. Is there any truth to this?

Also, it seems like not only is Lyman out of stock on most of their guns but Investarms (via muzzleloaders.com website) is as well!

You know, they could have kept Investarms making the more inexpensive models and then had fancier ones made by Pedersoli. I think that would have been a smarter move.

Thanks!

Walt

I would have love an Investarms scaled GPR, but made by Pedersoli...with the lighter barrel, stock, but keep the actions and finish the Pedersolis have.. I love my flintlock GPR from P. I got last year, but it is a heavy summagun. .
Agree. I have several Hawkens by Pedersoli. The 32 inch barrel is really a lot to tote.

So, I called the guy I heard the rumor from, and he doesn't remember the conversation!

Is this where I quote Rosanna Rossanadanna and say, "Never Mind!"? 😁

p.s. Lyman,, IS Investarms.

I have an original Lyman Investarms GPR and it is a great rifle! The various writing on the barrel is much smaller than the Pedder

soli ones(IMHO)

Liza from The Log Cabin Shop told me in an e-mail that Lyman is indeed going to no longer have Pedersoli manufacture their GPR rifles and are going back to Invest Arms. The e-mail is dated 5-12-22.

I stick by what I said earlier. Having Pedersoli create the "Signature" series wasn't a bad idea. They just should have kept Investarms making the original GPR and other guns in their line.

Yes, that's why I had my bbl. shortened, it is quite heavy. Also I just like shorter bbls. I wonder if there will be something of an 'after-market' heat-up, where guys try to find the older Investarms GPRs rather than the new-fangeled Pedersolis? Also, prices are really up there on everything!

If I had it to do all over again, I would have started with a Great Plains rifle and pistol, before the lawyers got involved and the warnings were added.
The Lawyer warnings on the barrels of the GPR and the pistol really bugged me, so I defarbed them using a fine cut file and then browned the barrels. They look much better now IMHO.

I looked on a national Muzzleloader seller's website and they are out of stock on almost every gun.

I also saw a near-new Lyman Deerstalker go for $610 on the auction site. When new is not available, the price for used goes up!

I've seen them done like that. They look much better! Although one still said "Lyman Great Plains 54, Middletown, CT" on the barrel. If you're going to take the time to draw file the barrel, why not remove it all? I ended up selling that one as I was going in a different direction at the time. The CVA Mountain Rifle had a better balance. However, the GPR looks more like a Hawken!

Actually, I did remove all of the writing, but did re-stamp the barrels on one of the side flats with the caliber of the barrel.

Unless something has changed, Lyman and Investarm (note spelling) are NOT the same company, just another RUMOR that has been spread for years on forums and now has another reference to be quoted.

I thought Lyman was merely the marketer, had them imported and sold under their Lyman name. In other words, Investarms mad them for Lyman, probably under an exclusivity clause.
