It may be the picture they can fool old eyes but it sure looks different than any rifle I have seen?

The great plains rifles made by Investarms for Lyman Didn't have that clearance cutout.

What species of wood does it have?

800 seems fair enough. The Pedersoli GPR kit costs that much.

This is a Pedersoli rifle, not Investarms. As to the wood, to the best of my knowledge they used walnut for these. My other one is darker and obviously walnut.
This rifle and the kits are discontinued, no longer available.

I'm aware that the Signature rifles are made by Pedersoli. I pointed it out to further the understanding of the cutout for the hammer.
