Good score ! You know why there's a letter "Q" on the bottom right ? I just got one myself from an online auction but mine is cut down, Springfield Arsenal and sadly no letter Q. Oh duh... lol Just realized we've discussed this on a different forum. Carry on.

I doubt it, it's 160 years old. No telling what cracks lie beneath the surface. Plus, It has actual Confederacy provenance so would hate to have it damaged.

You have more willpower than me. If the bore looked good I couldn’t resist shooting it. That’s a great find.

If it didn't have the "Q" marking, I would consider it. It is certainly fireable, just needs a new nipple. It's hard to find a musket with definite Confederate history. I know most of these arsenal muskets probably were used in the war, but to have one that definitely was, I would hate to risk damaging it.
