Thought it would be neat too make a couple Ulu`s, what period do they fit in?
Did Americans of old use them?

These are 3x3 inch.
Made from a old circle saw.

Ulu's have been around for a looooong time. early ones were made from bone or sharpened stone. To the best of my knowledge they were used pretty much by the Inuit n Eskimo peoples. I've never run across any indication of their early use in the area of the lower 48. They are being made n used today as well, and are pretty popular kitchen utensils from what I understand. Many folks use them as herb choppers.Nice work they look good

nice job pitchey, i like ulu`s have one in my camp gear best chopper you can get,

Thanks guys, i`ve never used one before, i`d think they would work good for skinning also. :)

If you ask in a kitchen supply store, such a Williams Snoma, for a mezzaluna that's what they hand you. The only exception is it will have two handles.
Can be also found in many european kitchens as it is very common there. TF

I have a couple ulu knives at the house. In fact, this past deer season I used on to skin out a buck. I found that it works but no better than a regular skinning knife.

As you, i like things that are different and have too try them once. :)
Sliced up an onion for supper by rocking it, it did a great job.
