Tops are oak and the sides and bottoms are birch.
First ones i`ve made, they seem to work good. :)

Another one of those things i haven`t made so had to give it a whirl. :)

hi Lenn
wow what can i say got my call monday. I played with it for a while found it's works better if you chalk it up sounds great to me.
wed morning went my best spot on the mountain loaded my .75cal flint musket not quite day light yet, i set in and wated for first lite. the sun started to come up so i gave out with a crow call and got a gobble right off so i wated for a min. then picked up your call and let out a cluck then an other got a gobble about at 75yrds. i was excited i wated and wated then gave a purr and bout jumped out of my skin when he gobbled right behind me maby 20yrds then it started to poure down rain and off he went. i will again try tomarrow. so all i can say is workes and how thanks bunches i will wear this call out i would not change a thing. just wright your full name on them it is to be proud of fine job.

Ephraim
ps. sorry about the spelling.

You don`t owe me anything, thanks for trying it out and for the kind words.
Would love to see some pics of your shop and guns.

Pitchy: I know what you mean about the weather. Last week it was 82 here in Southern Oregon. Today, the snowline is just 500 feet above my house.
Your calls look really nice. Would you care to share construction details? If not, I totally understand.
Very best,
Bill

Looks like spring is finally here, 50`s for the next week. :)

The base and side boards of the call are birch and the top is white oak.
The base starts out as one solid piece 10 in long, 1 3/4 tall by 1 1/2 wide.
Set the table saw blade at a slight angle and cut the two channels for the side boards with the top of the grooves out at the top. The side boards are 2 1/4 wide by 10 in long and planned down until they fit the grooves. First i cut the shape of the base with a band saw then glue the side boards in. Sand the side boards to a rounded top as in the pics. The top is the same length as the base and 1 3/4 wide, sand the bottom side of the top piece rounded from the handle to the end. Then drill a hole in the end of the top big enough so a 1 1/2 in. wood screw fits loosely through it.
Then drill a pilot hole in the center of the end of the base for the screw, put a spring between the top and the bottom and screw the top on till it`s level with the side boards. You can tune the call by adjusting the angle of the top by screwing the screw in or out. Chalk it up and give her a try, hope ya can understand those instructions. The design of the call isn`t mine totally i seen a picture of one similar some where and built my own from it.
If ya have any questions send me a PT.
