I live up in Clifton Maine (close to Bangor), does anyone know if there is a good range anywhere around here? I'm tired of lugging everything into the woods and then worring that I may be infringing on whoever owns all this land up here.

I live in bangor and im a member of the ancient ones. It is a great club. There is a nice range in hampden. I just go in the woods most of the woodland northwest of Old Town and along route 9 on the north side is paper company land. Open to all. I just find a gravel pit if there are no posted signs you are not infringing. most people here shoot in the pits. Some pits even have targets and benches set up. It is one of the freedoms to living in a gun friendly state. My advice is get a Delorme map atlas and take a ride. Most places in the woods here are remote enough you may not even see another person. There are hundreds of miles of logging roads northwest of Old Town on the stud mill road open for public use. There are campsites, lakes and ponds for fishing all public and free of charge. We can also hunt coyote, woodchuck, porcupine and red squirrel here year round. Coyotes are quite a challenge even with modern equipment. If the land owner does not want any shooting in the vicinity there will be safty zone signs. It means there is a camp nearby or men working in the woods. Be sure of your target and your backstop. Pick up your trash, and leave nothing but tracks behind you and we will have these freedoms for our children to enjoy.

Penobscot Lonrifles have a range in Stetson, I also sent you a message earlier.

Shine is that you? I had a smootbore slung across my back whilecross country skiing on the icy road out to the Ancient Ones vous site. I got about 50 ft. and went down on my back hard. I landed on the gun ( the guns fine,my first question) and I,m having some pretty good spasms. Now you know why they call me Nit Wit. The sb is around .690 .20 patch and a .662 ball, 70 gr.chinese the first and only shot I had a hit. Dalton Gang biathlon last weekend had the jackie Brown, glasses fogged, hit one target after I took off glasses. Came in 56. Don't ask!
Maybe I should just use snowshoes, so I don't fall.
Right now I'm on bourban medication.
Thank for telling me about the site Its great. See you at the Gun show next weekend.
Nit Wit :blah:
