Need to make my GPR kit tang 1/8" longer to fit the tang channel. Has anyone ever heated up and peened a tang to make it a tad longer.This is my 3rd GPR with the same over inletted tang channel.
Are you sure the hooked breech block isn't hanging up on some interference with the wood down in the rear of the barrel channel? It doesn't take much to cause the metal parts to fail to seat where they should be.
My second thought was, "Can you return the stock to the place that sold it to you?"
That much mismatch (assuming the breech block is fully seated where it should be) is intolerable and the company that makes these should make it right.
Yes, you can stretch a tang out longer, if you hit it from underneath with a cross-peen hammer, but of course it'll have to be a trifle thinner in spots. If the tang is long, you can give it a strike every half inch or so, at room temperature, and measure carefully how it lengthens. Its easier to do than explain...
