I suspect that the posting of This web site Link is permitted, if only because the guy standing there in the picture when you open it is the same guy who owns this forum.
Yup, that[s old Claude himself, the very same guy who pays for all of our pleasure here.

Actually, if you want to post ads for your stuff, we have a FREE Classified section where you to can post things complete with pictures!
Just click the Free Classified Photo Ads button at the top of the page.

Speaking of the Free Classified Photo Ads, I have yet to hear of anyone being scammed or unhappy with the stuff which is being sold there.
That may end someday, but in general, the folks on this site are some of the best people around. :)

Thanks Jim I may have a few things in the closet some ppl may be needing or looking for that I have no long a need for. I may just put them in the ad section.
As they say one man's junk is anothers man's treasure.

'S not my website. You are discouraged from self promotion, but if you find something you like it is good to share. How many times have I referred to Track or the Wolf, Jim Chambers, Goex, etc? Gozillions.

Rules? We gots rules?

Stumpkiller :relax: :sorry:

what would be the best way to inlay this quarter stumpy gave me....curve it to the stock or lay it in there flat....i don't have any way to fit it to the brass patchbox door form the old stock....it's going in where the patchbox would be................bob

I dunno bob.... that stock sure don't look like a 2-bit job to me

Seriously, and just :m2c:- I'd try to curve the coin to match the stock. If it sets in flat you'll have part of the coin above or below the wood surface making a trap for dirt or a catch hazard, or worse, IMHO, a "flat spot" that looks awkward.

Now you just have to figure out HOW to curve that coin without scarring it. Wish I had the answer to that one for you.

Bob the coins I have inlayed into my stock I place between 2 round dowels that I clamped down to the work bench, leaveing a space between them. You will have to judge the distance between them as to how much curve you need to be in the coin.
The dia. of the dowels I used were approx. and inch.
I then laid the coin on the 2 dowels, and with another dowel place on top of the coin, I hit the top dowel with a hammer til I got the curve in the coin I needed.
DON"T use the end of the dowel , lay it parallel with the clamped dowels. :results:

Very nice finish! My other hobby is woodworking! You guys are making me want to take a stab at this!

Very nice finish! My other hobby is woodworking! You guys are making me want to take a stab at this!

Don't do it, newbie. You're starting down a treacherous slope of niche woodworking... you know it won't stop with just re-finishing an old stock. Pretty soon you'll need a few new tools to make them from pre-inletted kits, then even more tools to work from a pre-cut blank. And it doesn't end there... you'll eventually start looking for trees to cut and mill for that all-too-elusive PERFECT grain pattern that has enough material to make the stock and matching starter, ramrod, ball block, knife handle, and other accoutrement of the hobby.

It's a long slow descent into madness :youcrazy:. You have the chance to save yourself while you still can.

You won't listen. None of us do. Welcome to the addiction. ::
