I just received 36 long rifle and would like to squirrel hunt with it, since I don't have a manuel for it can anyone tell me the max load for this rifle so I don't damage the gun or myself at the range. Also can anyone tell me where I can find a jag that would fit, I checked pedersolli web site and they did not have anything for 36 cal. and none of the stores around here have it.

You might want to work up a load for the rifle. It's a long tedious operation, but worth it. You are not going to need to stoke this up for long range shooting so you should not worry too much overloading it.

In my own .36 30 grains FFFg does great work for 25 and 50 yards. I bring it up to 40 grains for 100. The same goes for my wife's Seneca. Both guns recoil about as much as a .22 magnum.

As for a jag and other equipment, try Track of the Wolf or The Log Cabin Shop. They can be found online.

I had a 36 Hatfield flint 39'' barrel they said 40gr max load I shoot 40gr in my 36 scenca this is with patched roundball Seneca has 26'' barrel I shoot 20gr in my 32 cva squirrel rifle It kills groundhog good this is with 3fff Goex B powder hope this helps Dilly

You could probably get a jag from any sporting goods store anything that would work for a 9mm/.38 cal (actually .357) should work fine for you gun. I don't like to use wire brushes in my MLs, but if you want one the same size should be fine. As for bullet pullers and worms, try the RMC, Track of the Wolf, or Dixie Gun Works web sites they should all have them and they are probably around $2-$3 each.

Pedersoli has a free booklet called "Important Loading and Shooting Informations". Page 41 lists a Pietra Flintlock - 36 cal. with 30 grains of powder and .018 patch.

Greetings,Bowmtn.I have a Pedersoli .36 flintlock aswell.I took the time to work up various loads and am pleased I did.For squirrel and cottontails I use 20-25 grains of 3f Goex.I consider 40 grains my max, although I have not needed that much poke.No,20-25 grains is sufficient. You have already recieved good advice on the accoutrements.Best regards,Jack.

I have shot as much as 60 grs. of Fffg in a couple 36's with no problems but it's way too much for anything practical or useful in that caliber. Fouling was pretty heavy and accuracy wasn't anything to brag about.

20 grs. of Fffg has been my 36 cal. load for small game since the late 70's. I've been able to make it work and work well in every 36 I've owned. 40 grs. has been good for coon and coyote sized critters.
