So about 6 months ago a good friend of the family and fellow smoke poler past away. Today his wife called me and asked if I wanted my first ever gun I built and 1st muzzleloader back free of charge. It was a 32/45 caliber CVA squirrel rifle combo kit I got for Xmas around 30 years ago. On Xmas day my kids looked through an old scrap book i had of me as a lil guy and the picture of me with the gun was in there. I grew up fast and was 6'2" when i was 12 years old and and moved up to a bigger gun via a trade for my gun for his thus passing it down to his kid(Who shows no interest in it anymore) My dad went to get it from her tonight and will be mailing it to me later on in the week. Now my younger 3 can use it as well. I plan to send her a thank you note and gift certificate for dinner as well. I know this needs a picture but my scanner is broken but I will post a before and after picture when i get the gun I promise.

All just a great big circle, ain't it? Funny how we never seem to notice that when we were younger and could've made all kinds of different choices...

Congrats on getting the squirrel rifle back!

I'm sorry about the loss, and know you are sending a condolence/thank-you card, but it is so nice she thought of you to go to this extent! Shows the gun found a good home in the first place. And it will mean more to your kids than anybody could have given her for the gun.

You guys were supposed to get it back it seems to me...

It is a sad time to loose a mentor but at least his Widow realized that they needed a good home.
I have seen friends pass and their prized firearms treated as rubble! I am trying to get mine directed to the people I want them to go to but once your gone there is not much control.
