When I decide that I need a part or ball's or what have you , I shop ALL vendors including fleabay for the best price. Sometimes it falls to midway, sometimes Buff arms and on rare times I find my item cheaper on fleabay.

I have done this for years and find that the cheapest seems to float between all the vendors at different times. I also try to keep up with sale specials and figure in occasional free shipping, which I figure into the overall price.

I spent 15 years in the great state of Alaska so i am in symphony with the occasional high shipping gouged price to Alaska. Seems like some folks like lining their pockets with extra money in the guise of higher shipping to Alaska. However because of the relative small business coming from there, nobody seems inclined to keep a rein on the THEFT.

Friday I placed an order through Amazon for a mold shipped by Midway. It was put into the mail on Saturday and It arrived Monday. Never had something get to me that fast from Midway before. I had stopped trying to use them a couple years ago due to slow shipping.

I used to use Midway almost exclusively for my needs. When California changed the law about purchasing ammo online, they left an exemption for C&R licensees with a COE. Midway would not honor this so I go to other parties for ammo and parts/etc. I think they are all about volume and not individual customer focused.

I just ordered a ton (OK maybe not quite an actual ton) Of 40MM Ammo cans from Midway. I got them at what I think is a steal, Grade 2 cans $9.49 each, but with my Birthday discount $7.35 each and shipped free! Enough to replace the milk crates, boxes, totes excreta on the shelving in my gun room and have almost everything in 40 mic mic cans.
Ordered on the 5th Saturday, all 3 packages , were in UPS's hands Monday the 7th, I'll have them tomorrow the 9th.

my only issue with Midway (besides everything being overpriced) is their deceptive shipping habits.

example: get an e-mail Monday "YOUR ORDER HAS SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!"
then when you track shipping the FOLLOWING Monday, you notice in tracking history......" picked up at shippers facility on (the following) Friday......"

EVERY order is this way......
My understanding is that their system sends out the shipping notification when the shipping label is printed, not when the package is actually picked up or scanned-in by the shipper, which could be several days after the label is printed.

Usually from black Monday until after New Years, I order nothing. Shipping is a helter scelter mess. I am surprised things end as well as they do.

I haven't had much to do with them after they dropped their dealer discounts.

Recently I needed some modern parts from MidwayUSA. Now this was weird, but I suppose there is some explanation....
MidwayUSA is in Columbia MO. When I order small parts, instead of them dropping them in a padded envelope and mailing them to me...
They charge me a UPS shipping fee....
THEN they ship the stuff past my community, to New Jersey....Literally the UPS tractor trailer goes past my community, and there is a UPS shipping warehouse, less than 20 miles from my home
THEN upon arrival in New Jersey a UPS person drops the item in the padded envelope INTO THE US MAIL...,
and the local letter carrier delivers the package to me (after adding an additional 36-48 hours to the wait time) .

Just a trivia fact, UPS and FedEx have a deal with USPS called "last mile" delivery. Seeing that USPS
delivers to every mail box (supposed to) it is cheaper for UPS/FedEx to let USPS deliver doe them then run trucks all around. USPS is the #1 delivery service for the other 2. (I delivered many of those over 14 years)
Another fact that baffles me ! The LARGEST UPS and FedEx facilities are in........
ready for it........
ALASKA !!!!!! in Anchorage yet those folks get royally screwed in shipping costs !

The thing that irks me about Midway is that annoying emails that says "Since I am such a stickler for fast shipping"
Then I get a shipping notice, that does not track for 2 or 3 days, changes carriers once-sometimes twice (called "Mail Initiatives") and then takes 5 or 6 days to arrive. That's not fast shipping. And it's not cheaper, many times more expensive.
But yes, I do still use them, occasionally. Every other vendor I use has stuff in my hands in 2 or 3 days, and usually with cheaper shipping costs.

Spending a day shooting and/or gunsmithing with Larry Potterfield is way up on my bucket list. I've purchased a few items from Midway and they arrived on time, at the price advertised and a quality level better then I could have hoped. I'll keep shopping there as long as Midway has the products I need.
