Gun sparks well but when fired the frizzen isn't opening up all the way. What should I do?
Did you grease the frizzen spring?
How close is the flint to the frizzen when the lock is at half cock? A photograph may help. And are you sure the frizzen is not opening, or could it be rebounding?Gun sparks well but when fired the frizzen isn't opening up all the way. What should I do?
That's a great question and worth pursuing as another troubleshooting step because I know the frizzen spring itself on my Charleville is a little, shall we say, undersprung? (ie the tension it exerts on the frizzen is less than it should be)..... And are you sure the frizzen is not opening, or could it be rebounding?

As you can see from the clip it's definitely not rebounding. How close is the flint to the frizzen when the lock is at half cock? A photograph may help. And are you sure the frizzen is not opening, or could it be rebounding?
Is the frizzen foot the part the cover pan and which screw do you mean?On a bridled pan, maybe the frizzen foot is too tight in there. Or the screw is too tight?
May try moving the flint forward so it is about 1/16” or so away from the frizzen at half cock. Flipping the flint (bevel down) may also help.Reload the page I added a photo.
I don't think that cock is going forward as far as it's supposed to. Note the difference in angle at the end of the firing stroke:
