Any of you Missouri mefmbers interested in having a blackpowder squirrel hunt. Mo.season ends on Feb.15 this year. I live by Mark Twain Lake and there is a lot of public ground that we can hunt on.

Shoot I'm way down here South of Lake of the Ozarks.Been taking the Dogs out on Squirrels and Rabbits.

Closes I'm thinking of being by you is maybe Tipton.

Blue Smoke

Why is it that whenever I read the title of this post I think "Mississippi Squirrel Revival"? :haha:

Tipton is just a hop and a skip from me but Im afraid my 50cal and 54cal would be slightly too much for tree rats. :what: Im looking to build a 45 this year that would be more in line for tree rats.

. . . but Im afraid my 50cal and 54cal would be slightly too much for tree rats.

Naw! Put 42 gr FFg under the ball and they'll either of 'em do just dandy. But if I had my druthers I'd have a .32 for small game. You'll just have to "fight the war with the army you've got". When all you got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Whoa, pardner! even a .45 is a little much for squirrels...down heeyah in Lousyanna the powers that be have outlawed anything over .36 for small game, but game laws differ--you'd better check...in some states being in the woods with a deer-sized caliber during small game season will get you busted! Alot of folks like the .40 because it is accurate and will sub as a deer rifle if needed--I personally prefer to tailor the rifle to the game and I shoot a .32 for squirrel. Many an old time squirrel rifle was a .38 and today's .36 works fine, too.....but I like my .32.
