Rollingb,

The pepperbox is a muzzleloader and so are the swivel breeches, but if loading from the muzzle is the sole criteria that we use here inline pistols will fit in and an original Colt Patterson revolver won't make the cut. That don't seem right to me.

BP revolvers are also "Dastardly In-Lines"! :curse:
::

Does that mean we can't talk about flinter inlines made in the 15th century? They have one in the Tower of London, the card implys it wasn't the first. :master:

:agree: I think a pistol board to include C&B Black powder revolvers, pepperbox pistol, flintlock pistol etc. would be very useful and make the board more user friendly.

Would it be possible to have a separate board for Black Powder Revolver Posts.

So you see, hobbitcop - there really are no simple questions - - or, at least, no simple answers. :hmm:

I would also like to see ANOTHER section catering to BP cartidge handguns & shotguns & rifles. Then us BP fans, not just ML fans, can make TMF our one-stop-black-powder-forum!!!

CARTRIDGES? Don't take this personally, but this Forum will never be a "one-stop-black-powder-forum".

It's not about the color of the powder. It's about "Muzzleloading".

I was just poking some fun.

A BP pistol category would likely be a great idea from a topic management and consolidation perspective.

But that would be up to our Administrator Claude.

Perhaps a poll question on the subject?
:hmm:

No offense, but I suspect the mention of BP Cartridge guns joining us gave Claude a case of the .....well, lets just say Sourkraut and prunes are no longer on his diet for a month.   ::

IMO, having another forum for C&B guns and Precussion/Flintlock single shots would be nice for the small number of people who don't have an intrest in rifles.
For those who are interested in Precussion Rifles AND Flintlock Rifles, AND Pistols, it would just make one more Forum to have to visit.

I'm not complaining (exactly) but right now this Forum Site has So Many Different Forums that I'm interested in, that I don't have the time to visit what we have.
Because I am a Muderator for the Builders Bench and the Precussion Forums, I have to visit them daily. This leaves me very little time so I have to decide which few remaining sub-forums I can spend my remaining time in. Adding another would just cause more frustration for me.
I know this sounds personal, but you asked for a Muderators opnion. :shocking:

Presently, I don't have any problem picking out the Pistol Posts in the Precussion or the Flintlock sections, I just read the titles, so I vote Nay. :sorry:

Don't take this personally, but you did say you appreciated suggestions from members.

Well, this is the "muzzleloading" forum, and so the title kind of defines the parameters of the various boards. On the other hand, it is ironic that the boards, by definition, include non traditional front loaders, while excluding traditional cap n ball revolvers and blackpowder cartridge weapons from the 19th century. If there were such boards on this forum, I would certainly frequent them, but, there are other good forums that are available to those of us that hunt with and shoot the cap n balls and black powder cartridge guns, so it's not a priority issue with me.

I have been unable to find a good cap and ball revolver forum. If someone will refer me to one I will be more then happy to quit wasting peoples time with trying to get one here. I just thought a general Black powder Pistol Forum would make it easier for us pistol shooters to weed through all the articles trying to find what applies to us.

:sorry: It was only a thought.

Just because Claude does'nt happen to agree on this
particular idea certainly does'nt mean he does not
welcome suggestions. I can assure you he does!!!!!!

As one of the "new kids on the block" I would consider discussions of C&B revolvers a great help. Knowledge is always a good thing to share. Just a "Newbie's" request for help!!!!
Thanks for listening,
NH Shooter

I personally don't have a problem sorting the posts for what I need. I do think that it would be nice if the cap and ball revolvers had a place to post. At the shooting clubs in Oregon I have found that you get "sneered" at when you bring out the Colt or Remmies to shoot, they are not conidered to be "true muzzleloaders".
I started with cap and ball and "graduated" to PRB ML. Had I had a "friendlier" arena I would have gotten more involved faster than I did. Sometimes the lack of general help slows down your pursuit of ANY hobby.

Just MHO,
Mike

I was kinda hoping we could have a forum for the discussion of khukuris....

Just my opnion, but we don't "exclude" any cap n ball revolver, or any muzzleloading single shot pistol.
We do exclude blackpowder cartridge pistols and, one of my other fondnesses, the single shot 19th century cartridge rifle though. Notice that these use metallic cartridges.

We have had several posts concerning the Sharps falling block and these too remained because the model of rifle they dealt with used breech loading "linen or paper cartridge" which were fired with a Precussion Cap.

Getting back to C&B guns, I just did a search using "Colt" as the search word and limiting the search to just the Precussion forum.
The search gave me 400 hits. :)
