No, but I got three pages of intent and borderline irate replies!

Cabin fever strikes again!

:surrender:

I miss Musket Man, he used to love to run out and draw fire!

MM if you are lurking we are thinking about you. Hope you are doing as OK as possible.

ghost: Even if you find a smokeless powder that won't blow your gun up, I think the results will range from poor to disgusting.

The speed with which smokeless powder burns is directly related to the gas pressure in the chamber.
With a vented design like your shotgun this will vary from shot to shot depending on how well the cap and hammer can seal the nipple.
If the cap/hammer lifts off due to pressure it will reduce the burn rate. Conceivably, if the pressure doesn't get high enough the powder will just burn. On the other hand, if the pressures get really high, things like the breech plug threads may fail.
In other words, it will be very inconsistant (not to mention dangerous because the others already have).

Stick to Black Powder or one of the synthetic black powders. They were designed to operate in this kind of gun.

zonie :)

Between you and RedFeather Ithink you 2 have covered it all, Just the blow by from lack of brass shell.. :shake: and the blow back.. :shake: now with lead balls or...... Fred :hatsoff: still not one bright idea Im afraid. Hope your doing good Musketman.

:hmm: :hmm: Maybe he's gone over to the dark side...could be a mole for tony...and tony knows how to blow up a rifle with smokeless for sure...
:hmm: :hmm:

RB were you thinking of Toby? If he double balled I'd not loose any sleep...................

Tell you what, Ghost. Give it a proper proof load first. Load up a double charge of powder and a double charge of shot. Tie the triggers off and, from a safe distance and behind a solid structure, touch her off. Then get yourself a very large magnet and retrieve the gun. It should take several days to find all of it. :haha:

Saboted steel slugs.....how the heck did I miss that?
