Hi Gang,
I suspect we have all seen Jeremiah Johnson numerous times . . . and perhaps Charleton Heston and Brian Keith in Mountain Men (though the dialogue was disappointing and really harmed the feel of the film).
If you have Netflix there's one streaming now that I saw as a kid and hadn't seen in 30+ years. You may want to check it out.
It is called, Across the Wide Missouri, with Clark Gable. . there's a scene in it you won't forget, during Gable's fight with an Indian which was all I remembered. .
The movie is a little slow and the story is thin, but the scenery is wonderful and its about mountain men, and has a lot of accuracy and may be one of the only films with a well portrayed Rendevaux (sp?) . . though Mountain Men may have had one, but that movie was not memorable for me and disappointing. . .rough language too. . . couldn't show it to my kids. . .but we watched Gable in Across the Wide Missouri tonight.
