I found a free Renegade that I am going to work on refurbishing. I would like to mount a skinner peep sight on it since it seems like most decent peep sights have been discontinued.

Does anyone know what the thread pattern is for this hole? What is its intended purpose?

I was trying to look it up. I believe it was 8/32. Do you have a cleaning jag you could test it?

That’s helpful guys. Thank you.

I won’t have the rifle for a few more days but I wanted to research what my options are. It’s a really long drive to a decent hardware store so I’ll try a jag first then commit to driving.

Why not remove the screw, then bring the barrel with ya?
Most of the kids working hardware today won't even know what you have in your hand, just say,
"I gotta find a screw that fit's this hole". Who knows, they might even help?
It’s about an hour drive so I was hoping to avoid it.

More updates on using a skinner peep sight on a TC Renegade.

The 6-48 thread fits perfectly. I also replaced the front sight with a smaller 1/16” bead for a much more precise sight picture. A front sight height of .410” worked perfectly for me.

The rifle is very easy to shoot accurately now. I got it for free due to rust and pitting in the bore. It doesn’t seem to effect accuracy at all. Don’t write off a rifle with a little rust.

After sighting in I shot 2 shots touching at 75 yds then 1 about 4” low at 125yds. Using powerbelt bullets and 60 grains of 777 by weight.
