I been thinking in trying to find a mowery made in texas in 54 cal. : I was wondering from guy's who own them what are your reviews on the gun.
I always wanted one one but know nothing about them I do know the steel frame is a lot stronger then the brass frame guns

i own two Mowrey's,one in .50caliber and one in .32caliber both are excelent shooting rifles.

I have two Mowrey rifles.
One in .45 cal 7/8 inch X 32 in. long, and the other is .40 cal 1" x 34" with a heavy butt plate.
Bothare really great shooters. The .45 cal is a great squirrel rifle, while the .40 cal is too heavy to carry about as hunter, but really holds it's own at the range.
If you can find an iron frame Mowrey at a fair dollar...grab it.
Their hammer spring can be weak, but it is easy to make one or have it made.
Mostly their choice of wood is impressive, and your rifle will stand out compared to others.
I hope this helps.
Best Regards
Old Ford

I own 2 Mowreys a .32 and a .54 both in brass. Mighty pretty to look at and even more fun to shoot. I use a .530 rb/.015 patch and 80gr goex 2f. If you find one, snag it!

Lonewolf, I have a .50 Mowrey Georgia Tree gun.
I has a 24" barrel and brass frame. MADE IN OLNEY TEXAS. Very sweet little carbine that shoots just as good as any 32" barrel.
The Mowreys are getting scarce....you only see the once in awhile on the auctions . The last one I saw at auction received about 30 bids.
If you find one GRAB IT!!! You wont be sorry...

i have two mowreys ,a .54 and a .45
both great shooters.
if you can get a .54 ,do so you won't be disapointed

Ive had more than one or two in my days and still have my first one (a Deer Creek made one I feel and have seen 2 test in shooting mag's that the barrel made at Deer Creek on the Douglas rifleing mch is just a hair better - myself I cant shoot that good to tell) You can get ALL parts but frame and wood for them from Deer Creek. FRED :hatsoff:

Have had a few over the years and really haunt gun shows and such to see if I can find the low-life who thought they'd look better on his wall! Most regretable is the "Texas" carbine, a .58 with the state seal in the butt...boy, I really miss that one! Have known a whole gaggle of owners and only recall good comments.
