Mowery Rifles

I have a 50 cal. Mowrey Rifle that I built from a kit 5 or 6 years ago. I was just wondering if anyone on here shoots one and how do you like it ?

Had a buddy that had one a few yrs back an it shot very good an if I remember right he liked it very much. He would probably still have it but he didnt have a safe an the thieves have it now

I had one quite a few years ago, it had the wood forestock and shot very tight groups I do not recall the loads I used, I think they are one of the better production guns that have been made over the years, one old timer told me to lay a brass shim under the main spring to prevent the spring from wearing into the housing, I don't know if this is a real problem but it doesn't hurt to use the shim just in case.

I have some concerns with that rifle after seeing a couple where the barrel broke off from the frame.

Ben, I have a 20 yr. old .50cal. Mowrey rifle (Waldron, IN built) and like it just fine. Aside from some fairly minor quality control problems, since corrected, it is a very accurate and reliable rifle.

I have a .54 and it shoots great. Had it for about fifteen or sixteen years. I have had no problems with it.

I really like mine. I am planning on using it this turkey season. The public land I hunt has a lot of hogs on it and last season I passed on them. Georgia lets you use any muzzle loader during turkey season so I will blast a bird with a PRB from the Mowery.
