I have 2 muskets. Both 1863 locks and stocks. One has a Navy Arms barrel, was told it was installed around 1995. The thickness measures .118”. The other, an original, has a noticeably thinner barrel, .083”. Initially I was concerned about this, but in a search reviewed; it said that .083” was acceptable if the barrel was made from superior steel. Just wondering what thickness other musket owners are seeing in newer versus older barrels.

Where are you measuring the thickness?
Repro Brown Bess musket (navy arms and Pedersoli) barrels typically are tapered around 1.300 at the breech up to a .800 - .850 muzzle.

It looked like a bigger difference than that, especially since the Euroarms weighs almost two pounds more.
