Any one have a idea what the difference in the velocity would be between a 39

The shorter barrel could be faster, or slower and not have anythign to do with the rifling twist. The same thing happens with modern rifles as no two barrels give exactly the same results.
: My closest SD's (standard deviations) come when using spit for lube. It is common, with tight combinations, to receive no more than 8fps between high and low shots in a string of 10 shots./ The SD on that would be around 2-3.
: You can sometimes see 100fps+ difference between different lube types in some rifles. 1 shot spit lube, 1 shot bear grease and the velocities were 150fps apart in my .58 Hawken Green River barrel between the two shots, same powder charge. Grease is faster with larger spreads shot to shot.
