QUESTION - What, besides a nice Kibler, can: 1. Satisfy your desire to relive days of yore? 2. Is offered in a DIY version that is even easier and faster to complete? 3. Costs less, much less? 4. Can give you just as much satisfaction and bp fun? ANSWER - A .75 caliber handgonne from The Rifle Shoppe. As soon as the lead balls arrive it'll be off to the range for my buddy and me. We plan to shoot and then party just like it's the year 1350! 😉 Results and targets will be posted asap, but this will get you started.

Hi Cyten

That Ottoman/Turkish example is so cool. Looks really old. Somehow, I can picture that being carried by an early Janissary type outfitted in armour. LOL Thanks for the posts.

Rick

I wonder if that ottoman one would have been contemporary to the Fall of Constantinople. Modern English books and art show full length arquebuses for the siege of Constantinople, which seems very anachronistic.

I own one of the prebuilt .75 handgonnes from these guys.

It’s ridiculously satisfying and exciting to shoot. You’re going to LOVE it!!
Wow, that's what I want to hear! Would you mind saying what powder and amount you use, either here or in a PM? I'm looking for safe fun, not shooting through armored knights. How was your accuracy?

I’ve tried up to 100 grains of 2Fg... I don’t recommend firing that hot of a load from the shoulder unless you want to smack yourself in the nose with your hand!! Lol ask me how I know.

I’d stick to around 50 grains or a bit more depending. Groups? Inherently I’m sure the accuracy is there but boy they’re very tricky guns to fire. I found firing from the hip and “point shooting” works pretty well.
