My collection of black powder guns.

Hello all, When I joined this forum it was because I had just bought my first muzzle-loader. I was warned that this could have a bad side affect of wanting more. Its true!! I live in an area that seems to have a lot of un-wanted guns that are had for the cheap, still I have decided that its best that I learn how to use the darn things and stopped the buying. Here is a pic of my collection. Df

It doesn't have to get worse. I started with black powder in the middle '70s and only have 12 currently.

It was never my intent to buy so many so quickly but the price of each was the reason it happened. I bought the first, the blond CVA Mountain Rifle for a 150 bux. Then the CVA full stock (the one above the blondy) for $50. The last three long guns, two Zouaves replicas and the .45 TC were bought for $375 as a bundle. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Df

Two of the pistols I have had for years, the 1858 army and the single shot boot gun. The 1801 Parker by Traditions was a recent purchase.

Definitely got them at great prices! I like the looks of that Mountain rifle. Does that one have the 1:66 twist or the 1:48?

Thank you I did a lot of work to refinish it. I do not know the rate of twist. It is a CVA kit form the 70's as best that I can tell. Df PS. there is another thread that I posted of me re-doing the stock. Df

What Flint said! You might want to augment your collection with 4 or 5 flintlocks. To start.

I keep buying the bargains and fixer uppers, but can't seem to part with any of them. Stopped counting decades ago.

I can't resist a bargain or vintage muzzleloader either. Just factory stuff at this point with one or two exceptions. The herd just keeps growing and growing. I think I have issues.
