I sure like her! I ordered a precarve fusil for a lefty build from Pecatonica. Where did you get your stock?

The thumbpiece I had to make from scratch. The inlet was too big for the original, and I had to tig on the lockplate to make it fit as well

VERY nice......I bet getting that butt plate gave you some nightmares!...but great wood/metal fit!

Well this was my first build, and I learned alot to say the least. I took it somewhat slow, reading and studying pictures alot. For my chisels I purchased a few Solingens, yet the ones i used the most were from Harbor Freight with the edges re-done.

First Build

You must have some experience with woodworking

Great Job!

How is the thumb piece secured to the wood? I don't see any obvious signs of former screw tops, nails, or glue squeeze-out.

I won't be using Track parts anymore. Way too much hassle and extra work to get the furniture to fit oversized inlets.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with Track of the Wolf's furniture and inlays.

The trick is, don't let anyone cut a mortise for anything. Do it yourself and you can end up with a fit with absolutely no gaps anywhere between the wood and the metal.
