Thank youJust awesome, I think you did a great job making your rifle. I can't wait to see your next piece.
I'm sure yours will turn out fantastic. Thank you for the comments too.I think it turned out fantastic! There may be a few flaws.. but guess what? The only one you have to please is you! I’m wanting a Woods runner rifle and am hoping it turns out as good as yours did! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the kind wordsI see no flaws, sir. Great work. I would be honored to have you do one for me.
Thank youWow! What a piece to have! I too am looking at that same kit and caliber. Research, learning and watching videos and dreaming. Great job!
Thank younice clean job
Thank you for the wisdom and advice. I haven't planned another build yet but it will probably be another kit. I am not ready for a blank build. Also thank you for the kind words about my SMR build.Very nice first build. The Kibler kit really does a nice job of keeping the dimensions and ratios in perspective, helping you avoid a lot of architectural mistakes doesn't it?
Do you have your next build picked out yet, or its' timing?
If you are planning on another build (particularly if you are going to go from a blank) keeping this one close at hand will give you lots of guidance. The areas that need lots and lots of thought are the transition zones. From upper forearm to lower, from lower forearm to lock area, lock area to wrist etc. If they're done well your eye will gently "glide from one area to another". If not, your eye fixes on the transition itself.
Great work on a top-notch project! Kudos!I received my SMR kit in February 2022. After opening the box, I saw the quality and precision of the kit. I knew immediately this rifle was well designed and that only the slightest fitting of parts was necessary. Being my first flintlock and having little knowledge and even less understanding of its operation and design, I began a deliberately slow build, reading, studying, asking questions over forums, and learning as I progressed, making mistakes, stopping the build while learning how to correct them. I set the last pin on Monday evening, September 19, 2022, and tightened the last screw. I applied Briwax Tuesday afternoon, September 20, 2022. Some of you have provided encouragement and direction along the way. You have no idea how indebted I am to you. Attached are pictures of the finished Kibler SMR in .32 caliber. You will see flaws, I’m sure. But that’s okay because the builder has plenty of them also. Comments are encouraged. Now I will learn how to enjoy and safely and accurately shoot it!
