The bore is perfect so I believe I will refinish the stock and switch out the iron butt plate for a brass one that I picked up since all the other furniture is brass.
I'm not sure how old it is. Can anyone say? The serial # is 89-624xxx. Does that mean it was made in 1989?

Update: I have learned that the gun was made in the very late 70s or early 80s when CVA put only serial numbers on their guns and the first two digits did not indicate the year of mfg. This was told to me by a long time CVA dealer.

I finally shot my "new" flintlock for the first time today. Offhand, I put three shots in about a 4" group at 25 yards. I was using a large oak tree for a backstop. Using 70g of real black powder and patched round balls, I was surprised at the large chunks it took out of the tree. It's a keeper.
