I am a proud Mama right now. My boy has put 3 youth deer season under his belt. He has been very selective and had never dropped his hammer until this Iowa youth season.
He made a perfect 30 yard heart shot with his .45 Mike Lange Rugrat rifle. The patched round ball dropped the buck where he stood. That little Rugrat is one heck of a rifle!
Kolton kept his cool and waited for the perfect shot. What I was most proud of was the respect and care he showed for his buck after the kill.
It was 80 degrees with no meat locker open so Mom had a long night ;)

:shocked2: Holy Moley!! that's one big buck!! Looks to be at least 180lbs. Good shootin' guy!! :hatsoff: .Its nice when they drop like that, no dragging them up out of gullies.

Congratulations to the little man. :hatsoff: And before you know it he will be helping his Mom carry and process her deer. Savor these moments, they grow up fast.

After reading and seeing the result, my mind tells me he is a "Big Man". He showed restraint in waiting for the perfect shot and then made a quick clean harvest on an excellent animal.
Congrats Big Man and a tip of the bowler and a thank you to Lady-Hawk.

WOW! He did great. Monster buck. :hatsoff:

I'm going to take my granddaughter on her first hunt this year. She is 8 and I doubt she'll have a chance at a buck .. but who knows?

 For having a camera on hand.

My wife's 1st deer I heard the shot & came down the ridge to see my oldest son (maybe 10 at the time) holding a hind leg back as my wife was attempting to gut her hart shot deer.

And me with no camera  I'd ah traded my good rifle for a disposable camera at that moment.

That's a buck ANY man would proud of. And a perfect shot, from a fine looking rifle.

You have done well, Mama. You have every right to be mighty proud of the fine son you are raising.

The both of you give us all hope for the future.

Thank you, for sharing this. :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Tell your son that he should join the forum, as we have many dedicated HUNTERS here.
