I went to Ft. Fredericks Market Fair over the weekend. Here's a pic of the new horn and pouch I bought while there.

The horn was made by Mike Small. The pouch is by (Jim?) Webb.

What do you guys think?

Very nice setup. Can you give some details about the materials used in the pouch?

The leather on the pouch looks to be brain tanned deer skin to me. The strap is woven wool.

The originals were made by the Iroquios and traded to colonists and visitors from Europe. The french financed it. The only difference is that the indians used silk embroidery thread and this one has cotton thread.

It's a fairly small bag, it measures 7x8". My old bag was huge. Now I have to learn to compact everything.

Beautiful bag, Ridge, and the horn ain't too shabby neither! Hey, I'm in the process of transitioning to a small bag which just happens to be the same dimensions as yours. Let me know what you finally arrive at. Oh yeah, is the bag for a flinter or a percussion? Makes a significant difference in the size and number of items in the kit, I've found. gain, BEAUTIFUL bag!

It's for a flinter......smoothbore. I definately can't carry roundballs/shot/buckshot in it all at once.

I'll let you know what I come up with. So far, even the "basics" are a tight fit.

You can tell that a lot of handwork went into that pouch! Very nice setup....so nice that I myself would be afraid to use it!

Very Nice, and I bet VERY PRICY :hmm:

Truly a set to be proud of.

Being from WV do you have any other horns by Mike Small? I know Jim Webb has a book on pouches but I don't think he has a web site, does he?

Nope, that's the first Mike Small horn that I have. I've admired his work for a couple of years though. I'd recommend him to anyone. A true artist and a gentleman to boot.

I plan to have him build a Carolina banded horn for me soon.

I dont' think Jim Webb has a site.
