Problem with that is, they don't know where they left it. Once it's out of their hands, it's out of their minds.

Oh boy, have I got USPS delivery issues stories and belive me the Post Office could care less.

Here's one that might give you hope. My out of state hunting buddy sent me a pair of gloves for Christmas to my former address, I hadn't lived there in at least 15 years, go figure. Anyway a couple months later they showed up back at his place, I picked them up next visit. Not likely but possible.

He was fired for making unauthorized stops, he had a side business buying and selling boats. The boats would come from Florida, he'd put them on the lake for sale, then after a couple weeks they'd go back to Florida. Didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on. He never did any jail time, but a couple family members did.

I know a guy who used to work for UPS. He unfortunately developed with drug habit along with other issues.
He was seen tossing packages in a dumpster behind a shopping mall.
They tried to fire him on the spot but the union was able to save his job but only temporarily. He was finally let go.

I for one grieve for what FedEx has become. back in another life I had some documents that had to be signed by a gentleman. a 14 million dollar transaction hinged on his signature. fly in the ointment was, the gentleman was part of a scientific group stationed in Antarctica.
sent the documents via FedEx overnight. they were back in my hands signed in 5 days.
fast forward to this new life/world.
bought a stock and barrel from a member here. the distance and logistics between Oregon and Idaho are much simpler than from Los Angles and outback Antarctica.
dang FedEx took 2and a half months , with the last 8 weeks holding it captive 60 miles away with no way to pick it up.
I was ready to go "Postal" on FedEx.

Years ago through USPS mysteriously 'lost in the mail' several orders in the same year. A hand forged knife, a tomahawk and a folding handle skillet all from the same blacksmith shop. After that, I decided to do my own blacksmithing so these things didn't happen anymore. Post office thefts this year made all the news channels. Now the big theft items are gift cards as they can't be easily tracked.

A few months back I ordered something through Amazon market place as the price was better than the same item fulfilled by them. Got a shipping notification from seller that it would be delivered by DHL. A few days later it was marked as delivered but I had nothing. After several attempts, DHL told me that the item with that tracking number was delivered in Hawaii and not in NY.
Was able to go through Amazon and get a full refund but came to realize that the scammers are out there everywhere.

Hope you either get a similar product or full refund.

I have had several bad experiences with usps. On one occasion I sent a certified check for a 52 Winchester priority mail. I was following its progress via the tracking numbers, it just stopped, no more movement. My local postmaster couldn't help, all she could do was check the tracking numbers. After two weeks I had the check cancelled and a new one issued and sent it next day FEDEX. I had sent the seller the tracking numbers along with images of the check and the priority mail envelope with his address on it and was in contact with the seller the whole time and he was very patient. The day the second check was delivered the first one was too. The seller put the first check in the package with the rifle. When I opened the rifle, I inspected the check. About of 1/4 priority envelope was gone and the envelope was in a clear envelope. When I opened and inspected the check most of the routing numbers were gone from it. When I showed it to my postmaster, she didn't see a problem and said they could've cashed it. When I pointed out that the routing numbers were missing, she refunded my postage and walked away. In the end it cost me almost $60 extra, I'll never send anything of value through usps again.

We sent our youngest boy some smoked cheese and trail baloney from Ohio to Chicago. It has been going back and forth between the post office five miles from his house to Akron Ohio three times so far. With flat rate boxes and tracking you can tell just how screwed up delivery is.

This past summer I ordered some gold and silver from a broker. The Post Office's tracking website told me that it had been delivered, but I didn't have it. Called the local postmaster and was informed it had been delivered to my neighbor down the road. I got into my car and drove over to find my package still in the neighbor's mailbox. Took it home.

Yeah, I get nervous about high-value packages too.

Unfortunately, it seems gutless management is everywhere, but one thing they are all sensitive to is getting a social media stink going.
I've seen FedEx and other businesses jump through hoops once an outcry from the general public gets going.

Same address except street number, I'm getting their mail, sometimes packages quite frequently. The last package I received incorrectly I called the local Post Office, told them I'd tired of delivering packages left at my house in error to the correct address and this one was staying on my porch. They picked it up within the hour.

I assume the people who share my address sans street number are immigrants since I've received mail from government agencies for them. It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Babu gets deported.

This same post office lost three shipments of my meds in a row. I finally got them when the supplier gave up and sent them FedEx. One of the lost packages showed up about a year later in a muddy shipping bag. All of the lost packages had a tracking number.

Now, should we talk about shipping damages? Forget that, I haven't the time to recount them all. Unless I have deleted them I should have lots of pictures of damage packages, USPS, UPS and FedEx.

For what shipping cost these days they should handle your shipments as if the Holy Grail.

I just had 5 pounds of black powder delivered, they charged me for “adult signature” delivery. The package was delivered and nothing signed by anyone in my household.
