That may be the truth in it, for sure. Still can't believe something that nice was at a gun show. Around here, it's the place black, plastic, hi-cap 9mm's go to sit in piles! As for flintlocks, they certainly were around, at least around the general Houston area. I still think of the hours trying to gt a H&A 'Kentucky' to shoot right!

If that was a kit, would it not have the brass piece on the ramrod end?? That's way to purty!!

that is what made me think it was a kit. There is no tip on the ramrod, which lead me to think it was probably lost during the construction of the piece. It wouldn't have left the workshop with that detail missed if it was professionally made.
or it is just a replacement ramrod.....

Almost certainly a replaced ramrod. What's in there now is a piece of, what appears to be, hickory dowel.

Thanks for the comments, display was from childhood memories. I'd go to pen up chickens at dark,(that's the only time you could get'em to go in), and I would often encounter a possium ,fox, or skunk. I'd gather the eggs, and run as fast as I could, back to the house, and a pistol would have been rather handy.

And the Moonshine jug for when you got back....just to catch your breath!

You guys, don't miss much. I have the brass tipped ram rod. I had wiped, some Tru-oil on it, and it hadn't dried when I took the photo.

You guys, and gals, are on it, for sure. I'm just sitting here laughing. Should of known I wasn't going to fool you with a wooden dowel.

I used a lock with the same cock and basic shape on a pistol in the mid 1970s IIRC. But this one has a waterproof pan and no markings.

Until I looked closer at this photo out I thought it was the same lock but the plate has the different pan and the tail is rounded though I might have filed it that way. No idea where I got it but most of the parts came from Track of The Wolf. Trigger, TG, hooked breech, rod pipes and some of the swivel ramrod parts all TOW.

Dixie used to sell barrels could be a Douglas or a Numrich with Dixie stamping? Or something from Europe.
(they still sell barrels  )
Nice pistol. Great find for a gun show. :hatsoff:

That's nice. What "style" would these pistols be called ? I've heard Kentucky, Southern, but not sure what is correct.

I go to gun shows, a lot, and I have never seen a flintlock pistol, and very few flintlock rifles for sale. I don't think the seller, really knew much about what he had, and I never asked how he acquired it. Even cap lock TC's are often priced low. In Northern Virginia, traditional arms are sold and traded at gun shows, but are much higher price. But I've only been to the Chantilly gun show once.
