Mystery rifle

If have come by a Traditions cap lock 50 cal. With a 20 inch barrel.No model number or name.It has 700 k on one side and 126417 on the other. I have been searching the web and I have read about a ‘thumper’’ on here . Could this be what I have.I’ve been cleaning the surface rust of and polished the mainspring then broke it putting it back.I have found a lot of spring that look like it but it would be nice to know what i have .Please help

I'm no expert, but right off the top it looks like one of many variants of what's usually called a "Hawken" rifle. I can't see if you've got a patch box, and it looks like your rear sight has been moved back, but my guess is it's probably a "Woodsman".

Traditions should be able to sell you a main spring. You have to contact them. They don't sell parts online. Make sure you have the proper vise to install it.

PS - do you have any guess as to how old it is? Your stock looks to be much nicer wood than you typically get on a Traditions these days.

Interesting rifle no doubt. Should be a fun project to bring that up to speed. Hopefully someone else here can identify more specifically than I. I'd still call it some kind of a Hawken variant, but exactly which I'm not qualified. Good luck!!

Thanks y’all for the info.l have a Jukar lock that I changed out for a Davis double set trigger on my Jukar I’m going to compare with.
