Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Hey, Spence, how old is that trigger? Are we talking about an older modern made or something from the 18th or 19th century?
I'd like to see more pics from the top and side that show the mechanism. Particularly what is apparently the front trigger return spring on the front end! Any chance of more pics!
Just what I wanted to see. Can't even guess at who made it but it's a nice looking trigger. That front spring might get in the way of the tang bolt. :shocked2:
Spence,
No mystery there. That is one of the famous "North Star Triggers" made by Curly Gostomski in the early days of North Star Enterprises. According to his biography he supposedly started making them as early as 1965 ( kinda doubt that) The star cartouche is North Star's. He sold the patterns and molds to Mountain States Muzzleloading before he died. They are suspiciously just like the Davis triggers. I have a set of them that I hope to incorporate into a gun someday. Loose ones with the cartouche like you have are fairly rare, most of them having been built into something by now.
Yes, very similar to the Davis DST trigger, but IMHO, lacking the Davis quality. The MSM trigger sold for about $10. less than the Davis & other triggers. I have had several of them, last one about 10 years ago. No comparison in quality of that trigger to a Davis when you put them side by side. IMHO.
