The brouhaha regarding the tacks aside, you still have a nice musket. You didn't say how much you paid for it but I figure it was expensive.

I would contact the seller letting him know what you have found out and ask for a partial refund considering the musket is not as advertised.

I had a similar situation regarding the condition on several muzzleloaders I bought and the seller refunded a fair amount to keep me happy.

Thanks for your thoughts. As far as the cost of the musket -- let's just say that I hope my wife never finds the receipt for what I paid.

I took your advice and laid the facts out in a polite e-mail to the dealer this evening asking him to stand behind the product he sells.

The partial refund idea you suggested or a complete/near complete refund for the musket returned to the dealer in its original condition would work for me.

We will see what happens. :idunno:
