OK, I bought mine in a gunstore already put together so wasn't aware of that. At any rate, the ones with checkering look like a quality piece. Curious if the bridles are the pot metal kind now. If they lasted 35 years, they must be okay. That's the difference between the kit and factory assembled versions. Same with the Pedersoli kits today, the kit stocks don't come checkered have to DIY if you want it.
Isn't a timberdoodle a woodcock?I always thought they were one and the same with timberdoodle being an affectionate title for that fast flying snipe. They sure can be hard to hit. I jumped one in a stroll through the woods yesterday and it went off in several directions at once. I wasn't hunting, but did enjoy watching it fly off. Quite a critter.
Yes, a timberdoodle is a woodcock. A snipe is a different bird. Brits is right about their flying habits.Isn't a timberdoodle a woodcock?
A kid I knew had a pair of beagles and would invite me along hunting cottontails back in Illinois. It was almost like cheating as those little dogs would bounce out a rabbit about every minute or so. My dad would not let me have a beagle!Mine and my beloved beagle Little Buddy are gonna go rabbit hunting
Yes he’s VERY spoiled

Got my Navy Arms(Pedersoli) a few months ago.
once you get the loading down, you’ll never want to use anything else.
Best part about a smoothbore, I can shoot both shot and .690 round ball.
Slings on doubles from Europe (NOT Great Britain) are not unusual. My favorite double is German and came with sling swivels. I have seen them on French and Italian guns also. The sling swivels on the shotgun are original equipment. I have two and they both have sling swivels. If the gun is in good condition, then the price is a bargain. It would be a shame to consign it to the wall. Those guns handle well and pattern nicely. They are a joy to hunt with.

Russian too.Slings on doubles from Europe (NOT Great Britain) are not unusual. My favorite double is German and came with sling swivels. I have seen them on French and Italian guns also.
That is interesting Brit. Are there good quality Russian doubles? Unmentionable or otherwise? Never heard of such on this side of the pond.Russian too.
PS The German is a Sauer hammer double built on English lines. 16 Gauge straight stock and a delight to mount.Russian too.
