HATS OFF to Jester and wife, and staff! you people did a great job putting this together in a short time! I had a great time! (wish my shootin was!)a big Thank You to you all! (and Jester, next time could you work on the HEAT thing????....sorry had ta gripe about something, and that was all I could find!) thanks again! RC :hatsoff:

Why don't you guys come over and run the Old Northwest for us?

The organizers over here have managed to trim the event down to less than 200 participants. (that's down from 1,000 camps a decade ago) There are several club and site events that outrun the regional event every year. Dozens of long time campers will no longer cross the gate to even visit the event.

Ghost,

I went into this year's NEPR with the vision of making it a fun event for everyone. I think I accomplished that goal (with lot's of help from my friends!!!).

I don't think I could replicate the success anywhere else, but maybe you or someone else could. Somehow or another the politics stayed either out of our camp this year or at least on the edges and people went back to enjoying and helping each other out.

I'm suggesting to any Rondy organization to set priorities and take care of them first, such as "have fun", "get a variety of events", "listen to the participants", "keep it simple". If we re-learn to make our events our priority they'll begin to work again. The NRLHF has some resources to us, but a successful event still comes down to the people attending, because they are the only ones who really care! They need to be willing to help and cooperate because the camp will "sour" and folks will stop coming.

Anyhow, you folks could find a group of people (can't be done alone) out there to put the fun back into your event. If you build it they will come!!!!

Good luck.

Jester.

I have to agree, Jester you did a great job. I don't know if it was the heat or just the people, but I saw much less "modern" things than previous years. Also I heard less "politics" this year which always makes for a better Rendezvous! And yes, even with the heat, the Rendez was fun! And that's what it is all about, having fun!
