I would think that the super glue would eat away at the finish I would not try it on any finished barrel unless you intened to re finish it.

I will have to test this on my brother's gun and find out...

I have a .62 caliber Center/Mark Tulle de Chase. I made a removable rear site that is adjusted and the sight groove cut to insure accuracy. I took a serpant, rear rifle sight. You can find any sight that will fit the required measurements for your gun or make and shape one out of flat stock of steel or brass.:hmm:
To place or fit it, I pencil two centering marks on the tang screw hole, with a lead pencil, so I can find and mark the center of the flat area of the sight. I set the sight on the tang with tang screw removed and the serpants head facing the butt plate. Slide it up/forward to get the top edge above the barrel plain for some relief to adjust the sights shot elivation. I drill the centered hole that the tang screw will fit threw. I use a second tang screw for the sight. It's a little longer and I size its length to hold the sight snug. I then shoot and file the top flat area of the rear sight until my required shot placement results are realized.:) I make a dot at the serpants nose and one on each side of the jaw with a lead pencil during my sight in shooting. When sighted in, I permantly place the three dots by piening the marks with a pein punch or metal punch. Then you can incorporaste the dots in a decorative engraving for when the sight is not used. The three dots line up the sight before tightening it down so the groove is correctly aligned. The sight can be kept in shooters pouch in a small cotton or leather bag until its needed for use. Folks, use your imagination.:winking:
