I like everything about them except made in china. Of course, they all may be
If you avoided buying anything Made in China, you would be in a very empty house, not communicating on a computer, cell phone, or a tablet ( or anything electronic for that matter), cooking on a vintage wood stove, and generally running around naked.

Tuff Shins, however, are made in the USA, so buy some USA Danner Boots, put on your Tuff Shins, then run around naked!

With all the globe chamomile it probably makes sense to wear snake gators, but PPE is there as a last resort. I think just take it slow and be super cautious. Have you come close to getting bit or something?

I have almost stepped on rattlers, but never have been convinced to use protection. Yes down the road from you in Dove Valley Ranch.
I do a bit of prospecting and part of that is beating the scrub with a detector. This season probably won't be bad for snakes. Next year though....
Up here, that damned weed is everywhere. We had two major fires up here a few years ago and that manure was the main fuel that kept it out of control. There seems to be way more of it this year and no one is clearing it off their land, except me. The only effort I've seen so far to deal with this is a plywood sign put out by the town saying to clear brush back X number of feet from the house.
We're doomed.

I don’t think there’s enough goats in the world to clear it all. Pretty though.

A few years ago I had to work in Sw Arizona i would be back and forth for a few years. I invested in snake boots. I felt good with them. At the site rattlers we’re set. Every day for a while.
I sold them for what I paid for them when done. So even Steven

In the SW (Arizona/California desert) and west Texas along the Rio Grande, it is important to wear them as it is in the range of the Mojave Green rattlesnake as it has a potent neurotoxic-hemotoxic venom. That venom is considered the world's most potent rattlesnake venom.

To top it off, the little suckers tend to be aggressive with a bite first, rattle later behavior.

YES The Green Mohave is a nasty rattlesnake. They are aggressive. I never saw one in the six years of being in that region. I saw the diamondbacks and they are bag enough. You learn pretty fast to never just go pick up a board or a piece of plywood..use a rake, stick or something to flip it over. Always check the port a johns to.

I use gaiters made by Scent Blocker. Light weight and easy to put on. I have snake boots as well, but tend to use the gaiters here during the warm part of deer season (Mid-August through mid-November) because the boots can be hot as hell even without insulation. I've had three close encounters with timber rattlers here in the coastal forests. None of them rattled -- so much for "warning." Also the gaiters are great to wear when running a weed eater -- protection and the green "spray" from the weed eaters comes right off.

From what I see more victims of snake bite in the west. Maybe everywhere had no warning as in heating the rattles.
It is already snake season in Az

Lot of rain= heavy undergrowth= snake risk.
I've been wanting to get some snake gaiters for some time now and need information as to what are good ones and what to avoid.
Thanks.
Well, you know it’s really hard to get good snake gaiters that fit. Lacking a foot, the gaiter just slides off the snake. And there you are, snake in one place, gaiter left behind.tragic
