There's just something magical about a Walker or Dragoon.

Even the story behind the Walker is about as American as it gets.

The Dragoon is obviously, simply a slightly shortened Walker.

I wouldn't even want to use Pyrodex in these because you're robbing yourself of the joy of the big, rolling boom of touching off 40 or 50 grains of Black in a huge revolver that the subs just don't quite give you.

The only downside of Dragoons is that you can't have 1, you need a Brace or it just isn't right.

When I ordered my Walkers from Sportsman's Guide, they just shipped 1 thinking it was a mistake. I called and I'm like, Walkers come in pairs, I made no mistake, I ordered 2 of them like you're supposed to.
I keep saying I'm going to give the Walker a break next time I go to the range but somehow it always comes along. Just fun to shoot in spite of dealing with the shattered cap pieces.

I'd go with a 1st Model, the oval bolt notches and square trigger guard just give it a cool look

They are all functionally the same, you can't go wrong with any of them.
Which brand do you suggest?

(And to all those busting my chops about looking through the postings like I am wasting your time: get stuffed!)

Here's hope. I got my Walker about a year ago and have put at least 200 rounds through it using 45 grains BP and it has never dropped the lever. YMMV.
45 grains is only a little above a .45 LC blackpowder load, the drop usually occurs when a full 50+ to 60 grain charge is used

Don't forget an important use of a Walker at home: EXERCISE. I hold mine for 60 seconds out in front and then 60 seconds out to the side. Also you can lift it from your hip to the front or to the side. i find it helps keep my aim steady and also helps in holding a rifle/musket steady. There's always a use for muzzleloaders whether at the range or home. You can use a LeMat or even a Dragoon.
